Özet

The purpose of this study is to examine the perceptions of EFL primary and secondary school teachers towards the use of educational technology in general education programs and language classrooms. The study also aims to investigate some factors affecting their perceptions, their competence levels, and how they make use of the technological tools in language classrooms specifically. For this reason, the present study provides an overall view of what EFL primary and secondary school teachers think about educational technology, how they make use of it in their daily lives and teaching experiences. The educational technology as a term covers the use of every different kind of technological devices, software and programmes. The results of the study have revealed that teacher considered themselves competent enough in terms of the use of technology. It is observed that they are able to use Word processing programmes, and print out what they have prepared and use them as language teaching materials and download internet based materials and use them in the classroom. The participant teachers have stated that they consider the use of educational technological tools as a positive contribution in general to the education context. Moreover, they have stated that the technology used in foreign language teaching contexts makes it even more interesting for the learners and encourage them to use technology as much as possible. However, they have also stated that it proves to be very difficult to use technology all the time due to limited class time in Turkish educational context.
