Abstract


Attitudes of High School Students Towards Physics

The aim of this research was to examine the level of attitudes of the high school students towards the physics and to examine the various variables (age, gender, class, province where they live, entry points and what they want to study at university) attitudes towards physics teachers. The study was conducted as general screening model. The present situation has been tried to be descript, evaluated from the obtained results. The sample population of the research consists of 121 students who are studying in 11th and 12th grade of Metin Nuran Çakalılı Anadolu Lisesi in the spring semester of 2015-2016 academic year. A 5-point Likert-type attitude scale consisting of 2 parts was used as data collection tool in the study. The first part consisting of 24 items of the scale measures the attitudes of the students towards the physics lesson and the second part of 32 items measures the thoughts of the students and the physics teachers. The attitude items on the scale were scored as 'I agree strongly', 'I agree', 'I agree', '2 points', '' Undecided '' 3 points, '' I do not agree '' 4 points, '' I definitely do not agree '' 5 points. The data obtained from the scale were analyzed with the SPSS package program. When the results of the research were analyzed, it was observed that the attitudes of the students towards the physics showed differences depending on the variables. While there was a significant difference between these variables and gender and attitude toward physics, it was seen that the students had a meaningful difference between physics and where they wanted to study in university.
